Cute House Goggles
We moved into our new, super cute house over the weekend. Left the ant-ridden shack behind once and for all. It’s only a mile away from the old house, and still just a mile away from Pleasant U, but oh what a difference. We didn’t even think it was possible to rent such a place so close to the university. A lot probably has to do with the fact we are only the second tenants to ever live in the house, and up until 9 months ago the owners still lived there. Thank you Rental Gods, for looking upon us so favorably.
We have not seen one ant since we arrived.
It has a gorgeous yard that needs some TLC and Girlfriendy and I wish we could take the next month off just to work in the yard and garden.
We’ve already met a few neighbors and they are lovely, friendly people.
The park across the street is lively and quite the destination it seems, which in turn makes us feel like part of the community.
The house actually has good insulation and proper windows, which makes it about 20 degrees cooler inside than the old house. We no longer sit and roast like vegetables on the sofa at 11pm at night.
All in all, it has dramatically improved the quality of our lives, even though boxes are still scattered about and we have barely unpacked. Our moods, outlook, energy…all improved. It has, incredibly, opened up space in my heart and mind for Smallville. I’m no longer a slightly cranky, slightly exhausted robot staggering about town. The food tastes better. The service seems nicer. The campus seems prettier. Even my co-workers seem more endearing. I caught myself thinking the other day, “Hey, Smallville’s not so bad.”
I think this is what they call Cute House Goggles.
